Bust of Kinuko Laskey

Keith Shields was a sculptor and produced a volume of work that is astounding. Perhaps one of the most enduring pieces Keith completed was a bust of a woman named Kinuko Laskey. She was 16 when the atomic bomb fell from the sky onto her hometown of Hiroshima, changing her life forever. Keith donated this magnificent piece to the city of Vancouver and it now stands at the south end of Seaforth Peace Park as a remembrance and a meditation on peace and the messengers, like Kinuko, who are here to remind us. It was one of his last acts before he died
