Chùa Linh Sơn Statue of Kwan Yin

Austin, United States

Founded in 1998, the Chùa Linh Sơn Temple serves a diverse group of Mahayana and Theravada Buddhists. Though predominantly Vietnamese, the communities that visit the Temple include a growing number of Chinese, Thai, Cambodian, Sri Lankan, South Asian, and Western people. The distinctive white statue located near the entrance is a 12-ft tall depiction of Kwan Yin. For Mahayana Buddhists, Kwan Yin is a female incarnation of the bodhisattva of compassion, Avalokiteshvara.
