Redwood City, United States
The tidal marsh is a hostile environment requiring plants to adapt. Roots are required to be almost constantly in contact with salt water. Leaves may be submerged twice daily in salt water and oxygen levels in the soil are low. many plants including Pacific cordgrass and pickle weed have developed special adaptations to be able to survive in this environment. These modifications help provide oxygen to the roots and help get rid of excess salt.
