The King Is Coming

Silver Spring, United States

Sculpture by Victor Issa Commissioned by the General Conference in the mid 1990’s, this bronze sculpture includes ten life-sized figures arranged on the floor facing a seven-foot wide by five-foot high bas relief panel of Christ and a host of angels. Each figure has been crafted with a hollow core and weighs about the same as a human of the same size. The panel, mounted several feet above the floor, is presented on the wall, opposite the waiting saints. The infant and the angel, with its seven-foot wing span, weighs approximately 550 pounds and is mounted on a brick pillar above and to the right of the figures. As you walk among the waiting figures and study their expressions, you can catch a glimpse of their excitement in the anticipated event.
