Pedestrian Bridge Bogortuin

Artist: Rombouts-Droste, working in cooperation with architect Paul Wintermans. Installed: 2001 Artist pair Rombouts-Droste devised their own alphabet made from abstract symbols. They then included these sym- bols for their designs for nine bridges the side canals over on Java Island. Each bridge represents a different word such as idea: Science or Art. Only one bridge, the one over the Lamonggracht, contains all the letters of their alphabet. The bridges have a whimsical character and are intended for only cyclists and pedestrians.
