A sculpture by Alexander Calder which weighs in at 42 tons and stands Four stories high. It was commissioned in 1967, and was the first piece of public art in the country to be financed entirely through the combination of the National Endowment for the Arts and private funds. La Grande Vitesse has come to symbolize the City of Grand Rapids.
