Franklin Street Bridge Monument

This monument was dedicated in 1998 to commemorate 82 years of service that the Franklin Street Bridge provided to stress communities. Most of the components used in this monument are from the Franklin Street Bridge. The background panel was post of the original roadway surface, and the gears were salvaged from the lift mechanism the opened the bridge to allow boat traffic to pass. It was designed by noted Peoria area sculptor, Nita Sunderland.
