William W. M. Henry Comprehensive Middle School

Dover, United States

In 1947 the General Assembly appropriated funding to build a comprehensive high school for Blacks and other persons of color residing in Central Delaware. The new school opened in 1952. It was named after the first Black physician to practice in lower Delaware. The High School was closed in 1966 and the facility became a part of Dover's integrated public school system.
