Winthrop Softball Statue

Irwin Belk, a well-known Charlotte, N.C., businessman and philanthropist, commissioned Boone, N.C., artist Richard Hallier to create sculptures which depict athletes in four sports – women’s tennis, softball, men’s track and men’s soccer – and each bear the Winthrop logo. Belk has previously demonstrated his support by providing funds to support the creation of the track that bears his name, as well as the signature Eagle sculpture on the main campus.
