Duluth North Breakwater Lighthouse

City of Duluth, United States

When it was originally built in 1902, the North Pier of the Duluth Ship Canal was unlit. Due to the hazards that faced ships approaching the Duluth Harbor, the Lighthouse Board recommended the construction of a lighthouse on the pier in 1908. Construction was completed two years later, at a cost of $4,000, and the lighthouse was first lit on April 7, 1910.
