For centuries, primitive peoples gathered on this site to barter their wares. their meeting place was a great rock which, through the years became known as the "trading rock". from the original tribes of the Algonquin nation, through the pioneering eras of Dutch and English settlers, it has been a timeless signpost of the market-place. therefore, it is fitting that this symbolic rock be dedicated to the CROSS COUNTY CENTER and the progressive new concepts of its participants in the peaceful arts of commerce. this is inscribed to those whose foresight, enterprise ans service made this dream a living reality Sol G.
