This is one of the many historical location where 19th century slaves were saved by the underground railroad. This particular location was manned by the slave sympathetic Italian brothers Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo Tuttle. The Tuttle's used locations like this and others to help slaves escape their lives on near by plantations. This is very close to a location where the Tuttle Brothers encounter a feud with another set of Brothers who's name has been lost to history. It is said they originally used these underground systems to transport illegal mushroom moonshine and gold coins.
