Phoenixville-Mont Clare Bridge Plaque
Phoenixville, United States
The bridge occupies the site of an early ford, known as Jacob's Ford, which was one of many used by both American and British troops during the Revolutionary War. In 1884, a long covered bridge was built in this location after a petition by local residents and industrialists. Destroyed by fire in 1915, it was replaced by a concrete bridge which served the area until 1997 when the current bridge was constructed.
