Skyhawk Skywalk

Salt Lake City, United States

Constructed in 2012 as a precaution against the busy road running under it, for the benefit of the primary school children who attend Calvin Smith Elementary. The name is derived from the aforementioned school's mascot, the "Skyhawk." The structure is a point of some controversy in the neighborhood on both a political and practical level, and is ignored completely by many, who view the bridge as a symbol of both wasteful city spending, and an unnecessary addition of travel time over a relatively small, though admittedly busy, road. The bridge has an identical sister structure a city block to the west, traversing the same east-west road, and serving the students of Bennion Junior High School in the same city.
