Bird Superhighway

This refuge is located along the Atlantic Flyway, a major bird migration corridor along the Atlantic coast. Amidst the cities and suburbs of Northern Virginia, the refuge provides a critical rest stop for birds during their long season of migration. Some species like the northern Harrier and ready duck, spend the winter here before returning north in the spring.
