Steve Moneghetti Track Start/Finish
Ballarat, Australia
The popular run/walk/cycle 6 km track circling Lake Wendouree is named after Steve Moneghetti, a Ballarat icon. He represented Australia in the Marathon in four Olympic Games from 1988 to 2000 with three top ten finishes. He is also a gold, silver and bronze medallist in the Commonwealth Games as well as winner of a bronze medal in the 1997 World titles. His best time for running around the lake is 16 minutes and 10 seconds (1992). This marker is the first of a series of markers spaced 500 metres apart around the circuit to indicate the distance travelled either clockwise or anti clockwise. (Information about Steve Moneghetti obtained from the marker.)
