Mastadon on the IPFW Campus
Fort Wayne, United States
A lifesize sculpture of the mascot for IPFW. In 1970, The Communicator (the campus newspaper) held a drive to choose a mascot for the fledgling college. The idea for the mastadon was brought about by the 1968-1969 student body president, Steve Pettyjohn. Pettyjohn lobbied Mark Souder, the current student body president at the time, that the mastadon would be a noble choice. A committee was formed and a vote was taken. And the Mastadon became the iconic mascot of IPFW.
