USS Massachusetts in the Battleship

BB-59 "Big Mamie" Was a battleship that participated in the Casablanca invasion during Operation Torch and was then transferred to the Pacific Theater in World War II. With it's 9 16" guns it fired the last shot in anger in August of 1945. Decommissioned later that year it was sent to a Navy scrap yard. Thanks to it's crew and the citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, it was established as a memorial. It now resides in Battleship Cove along with a several other ships.
