Display of the Dead

One of Bedfordshire's most important Neolithic ceremonial areas. Neolithic farmers built wooden platforms to lay out their dead between 6000 & 4500 years ago. Later generations built circular mounds beside these grounds. Archaeologists do not know what they are for, but similar mounds in Britain contain high status Bronze Age individuals.
