John Nepomucene Roadside Shrine
Dąbrowa, Polska
This roadside shrine is dedicated to John Nepomucene, a priest living in the 14th century who is considered a martyr and a national saint of the Czech Republic. He was drowned in Vltava river at the behest of king Wenceslaus after he refused to break the Seal of the Confessional and give away the confessions of the queen. The shrine itself underwent a process of renovation and although its full history remains unknown, it is still an important monument of past era.
