Lower Pasture

In 1933 Congress passed Franklin Delano Roosevelt Agricultural Adjustment Act which paid farmers to destroy planted crops and slaughter livestock preventing saturated markets. Although the lower pasture was originally planted in cotton after the boll weevil invasion, the land was converted to cattle pasture. Archie raised Black Angus cattle until his death in 1999.
