The statue was first opened on 30.08.1925. The 6-step concrete foundation was built by Reinhold Veigel by the guidance of Ferdinand Gustav Adoff. The bronze statues were molded in Italy by the models sculpted by Amandus Adamson. In the autumn of 1940 the statue was destroyed. The current statue (copy of the former one) was opened on 30.08.1992. The authors are sculptor Lembit Palm and architect Kuno Raude.
