This mural is a huge wall mural painted behind two buildings the middle of the pics Salisbury at the turn of the 20th century. Local artist Cynvia Arthur Rankin completed the 127'×48.5' mural over 3 years. the mural was dedicated on November 30th 1980. 141 local citizens in period costumes populate the artwork many are members of the Rowan Art Guild incorporated, originator and sponsor of the mural. Landmark 19th century buildings the original fountain at the square, and trolliy lines serve as a backdrop. One of the largest outdoor murals in the country, it was painted with latex enamel and sealed with a plastic shield. Every three years the painting is refurbished and new towns people are often added. The mural is copyrighted and protected by the mural preservation incorporated.
