The Mortuary Chapel is the central feature of Arbroath's Western Cemetery, laid out in 1867. The Chapel itself was built in 1875, by Patrick Allan Fraser of Hospitalfield. It was dedicated to the memory of John Fraser of Hospitalfield, his wife Elizabeth Parrot and daughter (wife of Patrick Allan Fraser). The Chapel was available for services of any denomination and was used extensively soon after its erection. However, today it is no longer in use.
