Lapu-Lapu’s statue is 20-meter high and made out of bronze. Located within the Mactan Shrine Park in Punta Egaño, Mactan Island, Cebu. The statue was built to honor Rajah Lapu-Lapu, a ruler of Mactan Island who fought and defeated Portuguese Explorer Ferdinand Magellan during the historic Battle of Mactan in 1521. Lapu-Lapu is a Cebuano hero who is the first known Filipino revolutionary to have fought against a foreign invader in the Philippines. He is commonly depicted wearing a native Cebuano warrior's garb with a sword on his right hand and a shield on his left hand.
