Jacob Meyers' Rocket

The rocket was originally "launched" in Jacob Myers Park to commemorate the beginning of the space era which began in 1957 with the launch of "Sputnik". The original rocket was equipped with a slide and used as playground equipment. Children would climb the spiral staircase to the top of the slide and exit through the side of the rocket to the ground. In 2003 the rocket was removed from the park due to safety concerns.
