Bethel 1746 On this site in May 1746 David Brainerd Presbyterian allied minutes missionary to the Indians established the settlement called Bethel house of God.About 160 Indians lived here in log houses build a log church and school and cultivated 80 acres of English grain Indian corn,fruit trees, other crops under the direction of David Brainerd and his brother John by 1760 the Bethel Indians had been moved to a reservation at Brotherton Burlington County corrected by Monroe area Historical Association 1977
