Komafest Mannen På Veggen
Vardø, Norge
(Vhils 2012) KOMAFEST - Urban art festival In July 2012, Vadsø hosted the world's northernmost street art festival, curated by the artist Pøbel. The purpose of the project was to conceptualize the depopulation of northern Norway - and Vardø in particular - caused by migration. Through the use of street art, run-down houses were again to become centers of attention. Twelve internationally recognized graffiti artists were invited to Vardø to decorate buildings in the town and the surrounding area. Several of the artists allowed their pieces to be inspired by the town itself, the surrounding nature, as well as local history. Together the results from an outdoor gallery that can be experienced by walking through the streets of Vardø and the nearby recreational areas. For more information, and pictures from Komafest
