MYSTIC
Essar Center Memorial Tower
Sault Ste. Marie, Canada
The tower and accompanying Memorial Gardens arena were designed by the Toronto architect, Stinson Kennedy Sinclair, and completed in 1949. It is a late example of the Moderne Style of Architecture. The Tower contains the names of the fallen of both the World Wars and the Korean War. There is a lamp cupola at the top that represents the eternal flame that marks the resting place of the Unknown Soldier. When the arena was rebuilt in 2006, the tower was saved as a stand alone structure.
