Completed in 1842, the 3rd treasury building now forms the east wing of the present structure at 15th & Pennsylvania ave. In Washington D.C. About 1910 the owner of Gunston Hall acquired the column base & inverted capital shown here as a decorative garden monument. In 1950, Gunston Hall transferred the two pieces to Fort Belvoir.
