Buried here is one of franklins first settlers. Metcalfe defreffenreid(1760-1803)a luneberg county, virginia native. Three of his sons abran, metcalf jr. And matthew fontaine, were veterans of the war of 1812. One of the metcalf jr is buried here as are a daughter susan degreffenreid reese, wife of beverly reese, a grandson ben degreffenreid(1838-1859), a grandaughter elizabeth degreffenreid currin, her husband john m. Currin, their daughter susan, and katy currin(1858-1859) infant daughter of metcalf jr's daughter. Catherine and her second husband john h. Ewin. Metcalf degreffenreid's wife mary ann, a sister of franklin's founder, abram maury, is buried in alabama.
