MYSTIC
Our Lady of Czestochowa
San Antonio, United States
Two sisters of the Daughters of Our Lady of Sorrows, Sister Alphonsa Bobek and Sister Helen Haladyna, arrived in Texas on November 24, 1970, as the request of The Reverend Peter Kolton, who commemorated 1,000 years of Christianity in Poland in 1966 by building a Shrine to Our Lady of Czestochowa in San Antonio. The sisters took on the care of the shrine devoted to the Blessed Mother. Besides serving as a place of worship, the shrine includes a museum, an oasis with a small chapel, a larger and more modern chapel, Polish memorabilia, and outdoor stations of the Cross.
