This property was originally owned by Samuel Roberts. All the records are not clear, he may have lived in the valley as early as 1752. As a man of some means in standing in the community, Samuel was a trustee of the Presbyterian Church, a county judge, and owner of one hundred and fifty acres, valued at fifteen hundred pounds. When samuel died in 1802, the farm pass to 1st to his stepson, Jonathan Ogden , and then through a series of hands until 1866 when a property was acquired by Christopher Moody Sr. The moody family would own the property for the next 70 years.
