Site of the Colonel's Tavern

Warrenville first hotel was built by Julius Morton Warren here on the southeast corner of the village he founded, at its highest elevation. opening on September 28th, 1838 the grand celebration in a second floor ballroom, it was a political and social center as well as a stagecoach stop for 15 years.
