Harvey Reservation
Gloucester, United States
The Harvey Reservation, acquired by Essex County Greenbelt in 2008, was a donation of the Orthodox Congregational Church of Lanesville. Its name honors the Harvey family, whose original donation conserved this land for posterity. This one-acre reservation hosts tide pools along its rocky shoreline, and offers spectacular ocean views. A trail brings you past the Lane's Cove Cemetery and down to the waterfront, and connects to the City of Gloucester land at Lane's Cove. Reminders of the area's maritime and economic heritage can be found here, including the heavy rusted runs and cylindrical granite bollards that were once a functional part of working derricks.
