"Of Christian reverence to the cross and loyalty to our Sovereign Lady Queen Victoria." Built in 1876 this monument is in memorial of Edward Akroyd, founder of the model village of Akroydon. The monument was designed by William Swinden Barber, an architect from Brighouse, and is based on the design of the Queen Eleanor Cross.
