McVeigh's Water Wheel

Used as generator of power pre 1908 at the Contention gold mine in Contention Gully. In 1908 was moved to 7km to McVeigh's Hotel. McVeigh's Hotel was destroyed by fire in 1938. But the water wheel was saved and restored in 1978 from an old photograph. The water wheel now stands at the Warburton information center. It is still in working condition.
