Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center (Olivet Center)

As Wingdale Psychiatric Center, this was the largest employer in the area, employing thousands. Closed in the 1980s as a part of mental health reform and budget cuts, it languished for decades, serving as a detention center for the NY Department for Youth as well as a dormitory for local employees of the NY Department of Corrections. In 2013, it was purchased by Olivet Holdings, with plans to return it to a more specialized subset of its original use.
