Quaker Burial Ground

Bernard Barton, famous poet, buried here. 19 stones standing but records of 350 burials between 1698 and 1937. Quakers believe that god can be found in the everyday experience of all people. They reject violence and war as means of resolving conflicts. Quakers were at the forefront of those campaigning for the abolition of the slave trade, improvement in nursing and the criminal justice system and the right of conscientious objection to involvement in war.
