House - Built 1915

Spennymoor, United Kingdom

In 1915 Spennymoor coal, steam locomotion and steel production (the Bessemer steel production process was developed at Spennymoor) were the main sources of employment. The houses along Whitworth and Clyde terraces were homes for owners, managers and supervisors. As recent as the 1970's houses on these terraces were coveted above those on the 'back streets'. Soon they will reach their centenaries. This house is the only one showing its age so proudly.
