Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge

Buzzards Bay, United States

Originally a single-sided drawbridge built in 1909 when the Cape Cod canal was dug, this bridge is still the only railroad bridge to service Cape Cod. The current vertical-lift bridge started construction in 1933 when the canal was widened during the Great Depression, and the project created over 700 skilled and unskilled labor jobs.
