Mønsted Kalkgruber

Visit the old limestone mine with more than 60 km of tunels. The first tunes were bug more than 700 years ago. The mine was active up until 1956, but the limeworks was in use up til 1980. Today the mine is home to more than 18.000 winter hibernating bats. Due to the constant temperature and high humidity the mine is also used to mature cheese.
