MDCCCCV <br><br> <i>(left side of monument):</i><br> The 14th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry participated in the Battle of Shiloh April 7, 1862. It lost 16 killed, 74 wounded, 3 missing; total, 93. <br><br> <i>(Back of monument):</i><br> The 16th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry participated in the Battle of Shiloh April 6 & 7, 1862. It lost 40 killed, 188 wounded, 26 missing; total, 254. <br><br> <i>(right side of monument):</i><br> The 18th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry participated in the Battle of Shiloh April 6 & 7, 1862. It lost 23 killed, 83 wounded, 174 missing; total, 280.
