1916 Flood Memorial
Clermont, Australia
Clermont has two names, Clermont and "The Town that Moved" because in 1916 there was an abnormally large amount of Rain. All the Aboriginals in the town warned the White men but back then Aboriginals weren't considered people. So no one listened to them. The biggest flood in Clermont history happened and they moved the whole town to the other side of the Lagoon. The white line on the top of the concrete tree trunk is how high up the water level was.
