The Suitcases Bridge

This 1930s footbridge head led up to the Presbyterian Church a mile to the east, described by Anne Whitt in her book "The Suitcases. " Thousands of Crossnore students used it until it was set for demolition in 1995. Two of those early students, Harlan Boyles and Rachel Deal, rescued the bridge and had it placed here over Crossnore Creek.
