Eglise St Martin d'Holtzwhir
Porte-du-Ried, France
Originally built in 1665 the church was destroyed during fighting in January 1945. The reconstruction of the building was undertaken by Eugene Ritzenthaler and his team. The first stone of the church was blessed by the Bishop of Strasbourg in 1953 and the work is completed in 1956. The church is particularly original: it is indeed octagonal and the bell tower is an isolated building, a few meters from the church. This architecture is unique in France.
