Sherman´s Headquarters<br> May 19-23, 1864</center> Sherman [US] occupied the Hargis house for three days of reorganization of forces in the campaign that ended at Atlanta. <br><br> Assuming the Johnston´s army [CS] had moved, from Adairsville, directly on Kingston & the river crossings S., May 18, led Sherman to concentrate his forces here -- only to discover that Johnston had gone directly to Cassville where, without making a stand, he retreated to Allatoona, May 20th.
