Plaque states "On this site stood the Stanwood School. Built in 1873 and enlarged in 1906, it served as a school until 1952. From 1952 to 1988 it served as a community building. This pillar was built with bricks taken from the school. This plaque and sign has been placed here to commemorate the Stanwood School and given in memory of Monford and Violet Miller for their faithful commitment to the Stanwood Community".
