The Space at Westbury
Westbury, United States
The Space was originally the Westbury Movie Theater, built by Salvatore Calderone. It opened on November 10, 1927, delighting its audience with its beautiful Tudor-style inspired auditorium. It had only one screen at first until a second was added in the late 1970's. Unfortunately, the theater eventually closed down to due to decreased attendance. Slated for demolition, the Westbury Theater was saved by Cyrus Hakakian and his partners in 2005. Cyrus wanted to preserve the grandeur of the original theater while giving it a fresh, updated look. He completely renovated the building's inside while giving it a brand new outer facade complete with LED billboards to announce upcoming events. The Space at Westbury reopened in October of 2013 with state of the art lighting and sound systems combined with flexible seating plans, making it the perfect venue for all types of contemporary entertainment.
