Eliot Burying Ground

This is the oldest burial ground in Roxbury. Did you know that these tombstones are the oldest man-made objects above ground in Roxbury? Since the 1630s, the Puritans started crafting these tiny, frail tombstones that are sacred monuments surrounded by stone walls and iron fences. They feature noteworthy people like Thomas Dudley, John Eliot, & Benjamin Thompson.
